Stigmata
Stigmatists are individuals who receive wounds on their body similar to Christ's wounds. When the symptoms appear, they cause much pain. They also often receive dictates messages. The stigmatist is considered especially blessed or holy. Miracles sometimes even take place during the stigmata occurrences.
Stigmatists believe that these sufferings are from God, and that they are thereby participating with Christ in His sufferings. But God does not expect us to suffer with cruel torments when He has already paid the price on our behalf.
