Diplomatic Relations
Since the time of the healing of the wound, the power and influence of the Papacy has grown to worldwide proportions, particularly during the end of the 20th century. The Pope has regularly received heads of state from many countries, and is welcomed by them in return. It was a momentous turn of events when Pope John Paul II first set foot on American soil. Many were opposed at that time, but today, thousands come to greet him and proclaim him the spiritual leader of the world.
