New Age Movement
The New Age movement is occultism in modern garb. All Earth-centered religions, of which the New Age movement is a part, regardless of where they are practiced, promote the following: altered states of consciousness; dreams and visions; astrology; divination such as palmistry and tarot reading; spiritism; magic, spells, and sorcery; occult charms and symbols; solstice rites; human sacrifice; sacred sex; and serpent worship.
The New Age movement seeks to dismantle and vilify Christianity and blend it with new beliefs and science. It provides mystical experiences that contradict old beliefs and through its enticements redefines words to fit the new beliefs.

In 1991, Chung Kyung gave a keynote address at the WCC Assembly in Canberra, Australia. With candles burning on either side, she invoked spirits of the dead by reading them off a list. Among the departed spirits called were Hagar, Uriah, the children killed by Herod, Joan of Arc, Jewish people killed in World War II, Malcom X, and even "the spirit of the Liberator, our brother Jesus, tortured and killed on the cross."
Rhonda Byrne's book, The Secret. Greg Koukl says this about the book:The Secret, introduced in the book by Rhonda Byrne and 24 other “teachers”—and aggressively promoted by Oprah—is what Byrne calls the “Law of Attraction.” According to the authors, the universe responds to each of us according to an inviolate natural law that works like a magnet in reverse (7). With magnets, opposites attract. According to this secret law of the universe, though, “like attracts like” (25, 157).Read the rest of Koukl's article

Helena Blavatsky helped found the Theosophical Society in September 1875. Her writings on esoteric spiritual knowledge are considered to be the first instance of what is now called New Age thinking. Throughout her career she claimed to have demonstrated physical and mental psychic feats which included levitation, clairvoyance, out-of-body projection, and telepathy. Another claim of hers was materialization; that is, producing physical objects out of nothing. She is author of the famous esoteric philosophy book Isis Unveiled.. Source: Wikimedia Commons.

Then will the effulgence of the world's great Luminary envelop the whole earth, and its inhabitants become the citizens of one city, and the occupants of one and the same throne...Arise and, armed with the power of faith, shatter to pieces the gods of your vain imaginings, the sowers of dissension amongst you.Photo source: © Amazing Discoveries.

Marianne Williamson is a spiritual activist, author, lecturer, and founder of The Peace Alliance, a campaign supporting legislation currently before Congress to establish a United States Department of Peace. Williamson incorporates aspects of many religions into her spiritual philosophy, including tenets of Zen Buddhism such as the belief that one must empty their mind through enlightenment to truly find God. Just one example of her spiritual philosophy can be seen in her statement: "You've committed no sins, just mistakes." Williamson has promoted Helen Schucman's A Course in Miracles on Oprah and continues to do so around the country, as seen above. Part of the New Age agenda is to create many organizations that deny the divinity of Christ. If you are going to cover all bases, you need to also reach people that are not easily churched.
