The Vatican has announced the feast day for the Beatified John Paul II. The feast for the dead pope will be celebrated each year on October 22. L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican newspaper ran the announcement and the opening prayer text for the day.
“In the Diocese of Rome, where Pope John Paul served as bishop, and in all the dioceses of his native Poland, his feast day is to be inserted automatically into the annual calendar, the decree said. Oct. 22 was chosen as the day to remember him because it is the anniversary of the liturgical inauguration of his papacy in 1978.
Feasts for the beatified are permitted only in Rome and in the local dioceses of the dead person’s home country. When sainted, the feast can be celebrated world-wide.
October 22, also happens to be the date on which Christ entered the Most Holy Place in the heavenly sanctuary in 1844 and began His final atonement. The rite of praying to dead saints in an insult to Jehovah and to the intercessory ministry of Christ in the heavenly sanctuary. Praying to the dead pope or other saints for intercession with God replaces the work of Christ with a blasphemous man-made practice.
