Amazing Discoveries is looking for an individual with strong communication and leadership skills that can manage the Communications Department.

If you have a broad range of experience, including excellent writing skills in a variety of areas, are able to lead and communicate ideas well, and are a good listener, with a strong background in Seventh-day Adventist beliefs and Spirit of Prophecy, this may be a position for you. 


Duties & Responsibilities: 

Corporate Communications / Media Relations

Write & publish official statements in conjunction with Board as required
Overseeing terms of use, disclaimers, and other legal wording for products and website as needed
Design, create and publish annual report in cooperation with accounting department and managers

Employee Communications

  • Maintain internal blog with company news, announcements, and important information for Staff
  • Update, write and maintain policy manual online
  • Assist with coordination of internal staff meetings
  • Oversee employees in the communications department to coordinate completion & progress of projects 

External Communications/Evangelism

  • Update, edit, add new, and maintain web articles
  • Maintain and update web resources
  • Oversee production of quarterly magazine including design, creation, and publishing
  • Attend public events 
  • Writing - TV ads/scripts/voice-over
  • Website Support - featured banners, blog posts, minor search engine optimization, etc.
  • Oversee production of sharing booklets/books for publishing 
  • Oversee production of free literature 

Marketing / Social Media

  • Coordinate production of necessary marketing material - i.e. printed or digital (such as catalogues, flyers, banners, event flyers/signage, sharing materials, books/book publishing, etc) in conjunction with designer

Community & Philanthropic Activities

Oversee/write correspondence for Ministry as needed - i.e. fundraising letters, thank you letters, response letters, etc. or edit correspondence written by other staff.


Skills/Requirements:

  • Degree in marketing and/or communication preferred 
  • Advanced writing, editing, verbal communication skills
  • Excellent proofreading & editing skills 
  • Good leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Products, as well as HTML
  • Suggested proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other programming languages
  • Asset: experience with technical writing
  • Strong computing skills / Technical ability to navigate web interfaces 
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and complete them successfully on time
  • Personal: has a close relationship with Jesus Christ, sets a good example for others, and has a good understanding of Seventh-day Adventist beliefs, follows the Spirit of Prophecy
  • Ability to work in an organized manner
  • Willing to work additional hours if necessary to get the job done
  • Flexibility to adapt to urgent projects or unusual situations
  • Self-starter - able to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Vehicle & driver's license mandatory.
